Hayfield took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 9-6 win over Rushford-Peterson. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won three in a row.
Austin Dahle was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 6.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Kael Steele was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Hayfield: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Ben Nelson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Southland hit Waterville-Elysian-Morristown with a nine-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Buccaneers came up short against the Rebels, falling 13-1.
Hayfield's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Waterville-Elysian-Morristown, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hayfield has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Waterville-Elysian-Morristown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
