The Northeastern Clinton Cougars will head out to take on the Beekmantown Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Northeastern Clinton's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Beekmantown's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Northeastern Clinton came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Missisquoi Valley, falling 7-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cougars have suffered since April 10, 2025.
Beekmantown not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 27th (when they won 27-0). They put the hurt on Brushton-Moira with a sharp 17-1 victory. Considering the Eagles have won five matchups by more than ten runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Addison Jewell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched. Jewell was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Mia Perez was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Meegan Burdo, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs.
Beekmantown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Northeastern Clinton's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Beekmantown, their record is now 9-5.
Northeastern Clinton beat Beekmantown 6-3 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
