Desert Heights Prep extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping them up to 5-5. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Maryvale Prep Matador a 17-0 shutout. The Yote not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 26th (when they won 20-1).
Nicole Bryan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Bryan was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Desert Heights Prep let Chanel Gonzalez and Anna Fjell run wild. Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Fjell went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Fjell has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Angelina Ferguson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Desert Heights Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They are 4-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
As for Maryvale Prep, they now have a losing record of 1-2-1. Having soared to a lofty 27 runs in the game before, their shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
On Maryvale Prep's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Navarrete, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Desert Heights Prep will square off against rival San Pasqual Valley at 2:00 p.m. on the 13th. Meanwhile, Maryvale Prep is set to challenge their familiar foe Great Hearts Anthem at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
