The Captain Shreve Gators will head out on the road to face off against the Haughton Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Captain Shreve will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Captain Shreve stacked a fourth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They blew past Benton 65-33 at home. Given Captain Shreve's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Benton is ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jamarlon Otis and Quortni Beaner were among the main playmakers for Captain Shreve as the former rushed for 236 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry and the latter rushed for 163 yards and four touchdowns. Beaner is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last four games he's played.
Haughton can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 36-35 photo finish over Natchitoches Central. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Captain Shreve's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.5 points per game. As for Haughton, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Everything came up roses for Captain Shreve against Haughton when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 42-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Captain Shreve since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
