Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Albany's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Albany made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Salesian College Preparatory, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Cougars put the hurt on the Pride with a sharp 10-3 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Cougars have won six games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Albany got a great performance from Drake Barrett as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Albany let Tour? Hudson and Dexter Johnson run wild. Hudson scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Johnson scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Johnson has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Preston McGowen, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Albany kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Salesian College Preparatory only managed two hits.

Albany is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Salesian College Preparatory, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-15.

Albany will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pride: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
