The Mineral Ridge Rams won the last time they faced the Lowellville Rockets, and things went their way on Thursday too. Mineral Ridge came out on top against Lowellville by a score of 54-43. Given Mineral Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Lowellville is ranked 635th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mineral Ridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Hulett out in front who scored 17 points along with two steals and two blocks. Hulett hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Lily Merolillo was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Several Rockets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Morgan Lewis, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Serinna Tych, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Mineral Ridge pushed their record up to 15-2 with that win, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Lowellville, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Mineral Ridge will head out on the road to take on Springfield at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Lowellville, they will play host again and welcome Jackson-Milton, where tip off is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Jackson-Milton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Monday.
