Wingfield is on a nine-game streak of home losses, Richland an eight-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Wingfield Falcons will take on the Richland Rangers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Wingfield pushed their score all the way to 57 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The match between Wingfield and McComb wasn't particularly close, with Wingfield falling 74-57. Wingfield has not had much luck with McComb recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Orenthal Claiborne, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Tyler Arrington, who scored 20 points along with two steals.
Richland suffered their biggest defeat since December 14, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Raymond on the road and fell 66-32. While losing is never fun, Richland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while Raymond is ranked sixth).
Wingfield's defeat dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Richland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 13 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.
Wingfield beat Richland 54-43 when the teams last played on January 9th. Will Wingfield repeat their success, or does Richland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
