Baseball Recap: Monday's Win Is Geneseo's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Geneseo barely beat Warsaw the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Blue Devils blew past the Tigers 12-2 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Bryce Patterson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Brady O'Brien and Preston Granger did most of the damage at the plate: O'Brien went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Granger went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most stolen bases O'Brien has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Luke Davis, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Geneseo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Warsaw, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Geneseo will challenge Keshequa at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Warsaw, they will take on Mount Morris at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers are facing the Blue Devils at the right time seeing as the Blue Devils are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
