The Gateway Eagles put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 62-23 victory over Fort Myers at home. Fans of Gateway have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Gateway got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was V'Davrielle Johnson out in front who scored 12 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Johnson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kenyah Moss, who scored 15 points.
Gateway's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Fort Myers, they have fallen quite a ways from their 19-7 record last season and are now at 2-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gateway will take on Dunbar at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dunbar is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Fort Myers will be home for the holidays to greet Booker at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Booker focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
