After flying high against Miami-Yoder last Friday, Calhan came back down to earth. The Calhan Bulldogs were beaten by the Simla Cubs 61-20 on Friday. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-7.
Calhan's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Willow Levicki, who posted four points. Another player making a difference was Kailey Peterson, who put up two points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, Calhan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive contests.
Leading Simla to victory were Haylee Easler and Carlee Cox. Easler went 7-for-11 en route to 16 points and three steals, while Cox shot 55% from the field on her way to 13 points along with eight steals and six boards. Those 16 points gave Easler a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Kerst, who earned nine points and six rebounds.

Calhan moved to 13-9 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.
