It was a good run, but the Eastern Alamance Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Southern Alamance by a score of 67-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (62), Eastern Alamance still had to take the loss.
Eastern Alamance's loss came despite strong showings from Jordan Matthews and Ja'vier Tinnin. Matthews scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Tinnin scored 15 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Matthews has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Reaves, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Eastern Alamance smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern Alamance only pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Tyler Moore continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Southern Alamance, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Moore is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Jordan Moore was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Eastern Alamance's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5. As for Southern Alamance, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern Alamance will square off against Orange at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Orange's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games. As for Southern Alamance, they will head out on the road to face off against Western Alamance at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Western Alamance will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 412th, while Southern Alamance is ranked 204th).
