A classic North v. South matchup is on the schedule. The Omaha South Packers will challenge the Omaha North Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Omaha South is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
While Omaha South's victory against Lincoln High wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Packers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Links 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Packers have posted since April 5th.

Caleb Williams made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Omaha South is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-9 otherwise. Williams was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one double.
Williams wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lou Hodoly, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Omaha North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-12 heartbreaker at the hands of Mount Michael Benedictine.
Like Omaha South, Omaha North also got a great game from a two-way player: Connor O'Neill. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). What's more, O'Neill gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Chance Kinman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Colin Kinman, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Omaha South's record is now 12-10. As for Omaha North, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Omaha South has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Omaha North struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Omaha South couldn't quite get it done against Omaha North in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can the Packers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
