The St. John the Baptist Cougars's game back in December of 2023 was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They took down Holy Trinity 55-40. That's another feather in the cap for St. John the Baptist, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
When it comes to explaining why Holy Trinity lost, one person who can't be blamed is Maya Logie. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. Logie scored a full 47.5% of Holy Trinity's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
St. John the Baptist's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-1. As for Holy Trinity, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. John the Baptist will take on St. Anthony's at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Holy Trinity's road trip will continue as they head out to face St. Dominic at 5:45 p.m. on January 9th.
