Baseball Recap: Lawton's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Lawton can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Santa Fe South Saints. The Wolverines have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Saints, too.

Lawton got a great performance from Kaleb Plata as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Plata has become a key player for the Wolverines: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-23 otherwise.

At the plate, Jameson Bennington was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kenneth Sheppard, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.

Lawton's win bumped their record up to 7-24. As for Santa Fe South, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-18.

Coincidentally, Lawton and Santa Fe South will both be playing Putnam City West the next time they take the field. The Saints will host the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Wolverines will host them at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
