Basketball Recap: Barrett Wilke's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Stanton over Twin River

Stanton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. The matchup between them and the Twin River Titans didn't end well, with the Stanton Mustangs falling 48-34. The Mustangs were probably out for revenge after losing 54-26 to them when the teams met back in January, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Stanton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Barrett Wilke, who posted 17 points. That's the most points Wilke has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Claussen, who put up six points and six rebounds.

Twin River's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Colsten Rodriguez led the charge by going 5 of 10 on his way to 15 points. Another player making a difference was Corbin Rodriguez, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Stanton's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Twin River, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-4.

Stanton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-11 victory against Neligh-Oakdale on the 28th. As for Twin River, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 62-58 win against Tri County Northeast on the 28th.
