Delta is 0-5 against Emery since March of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Delta Rabbits will square off against the Emery Spartans at 3:30 p.m. Delta has given up an average of 14.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Delta is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They lost 17-6 to North Sevier.
Elee Anderson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That stolen base was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Fallon Johnson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Emery hadn't done well against Manti recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Emery blew past Manti 10-2. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won three contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Kallee Lake made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs.
In other pitching news, Rheagan Rhoten looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Elly Stilson, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of TaiLynn Minchey, who scored a run while going 4-for-4.
Emery kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Manti only managed five hits.
The victory made it two in a row for Emery and bumps their season record up to 4-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Delta, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
Delta suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Emery when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Delta avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
