The Fellowship Academy Mustangs struggled with assists on Saturday (the Community Christian Warriors had 1700% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Fellowship Academy had to suffer through a rough 70-30 loss at the hands of Community Christian. While losing is never fun, Fellowship Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1349th, while Community Christian is ranked 349th).
Despite the defeat, Fellowship Academy saw an underclassman step up: Bryce Baker scored 13 points. The contest was Baker's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Connor Fountain, who scored 4 points along with 5 rebounds.
It was another big night for Jonathan Blackburn, who almost dropped a triple-double on 22 points, 18 rebounds, and 9 assists for Community Christian. Blackburn hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Marquez, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Fellowship Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Community Christian, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Fellowship Academy will be playing at home against UME Preparatory Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully UME Preparatory Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday. As for Community Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Covington at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
