Roncalli Catholic is 8-2 against Mount Michael Benedictine since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Roncalli Catholic Crimson Pride will head out on the road to face off against the Mount Michael Benedictine Knights at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Roncalli Catholic has five straight wins, Mount Michael Benedictine has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Roncalli Catholic ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bennington and snuck past 77-74. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, Mount Michael Benedictine took a serious blow against Concordia on Tuesday, falling 66-36. While losing is never fun, Mount Michael Benedictine can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Concordia is ranked fifth).
Roncalli Catholic pushed their record up to 13-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Mount Michael Benedictine, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
Roncalli Catholic skirted past Mount Michael Benedictine 37-35 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Roncalli Catholic since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
