While the Evangel Christian Lightning couldn't quite beat the Tuscaloosa Home Educators Warriors on Tuesday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 59-point defeat they were dealt last Thursday. Evangel Christian fell just short of Tuscaloosa Home Educators by a score of 51-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Evangel Christian has suffered yet this season.
Despite the loss, Evangel Christian still got an impressive performance from Hallie Wells, who scored 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wells has scored all season. Rachel Cassimiro was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Tuscaloosa Home Educators' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amelia Arsenault, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lanie Westerberg, who scored 11 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Evangel Christian and nudges their season record down to 12-6. As for Tuscaloosa Home Educators, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Evangel Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Rocket City at 6:30 p.m. on January 25th. As for Tuscaloosa Home Educators, they will challenge North River Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. North River Christian will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
