The Trenton Tigers had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They blew past Lafayette 60-21 at home. The result was nothing new for Trenton, who have now won five games by 23 points or more so far this season.
Nyima Gillyard continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The contest was her eighth in a row with at least ten points. Koi Perry was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six steals and five assists.
Despite the loss, Lafayette still got an impressive performance from Ella Hancock, who scored nine points along with five rebounds. Hancock is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Lafayette struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Trenton racked up 17 assists.
Trenton pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Lafayette, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
Trenton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Chiefland at 6:30 p.m. on December 15th. Lafayette won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Branford at 6:30 p.m. on December 15th. Branford will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 573rd, while Lafayette is ranked 158th).
