4A Southeastern recap Oct. 3, 2012
Richmond extended the longest winning streak in 4A Southeastern this week by beating Hoke County, 49-14. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Scotland took down Purnell Swett 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Fighting Scots' Jaylend Ratliffe and Tra'Shawn Gregory have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Ratliffe has thrown for 760 yards this season, while Gregory, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 14 catches for 239 yards. The Bucks' Detrez Newsome leads the league in rushing yards with 918.
Hoke County's Newsome needs only 82 yards against Lumberton next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Pirates take on Julian Brown's team. At the moment, Lumberton is in fourth, while the Bucks are in second.
Pinecrest made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,079 from 2,615. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 24-0 victory over Mike Brill's team last week.
