Peotone hasn't had much luck against Wilmington recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Blue Devils will venture away from home to face off against the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. Peotone will be strutting in after a victory while Wilmington will be coming in after a loss.
Peotone came out on top against Momence on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Momence Athletics with a sharp 9-0 win. The Blue Devils not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 10th (when they won 12-0).
The team relied heavily on Adyson Kosmos, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025. Mary Klawitter was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Peotone hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Momence struck out 12 times.
Meanwhile, Wilmington fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Morris on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They came up short against the Warriors, falling 11-3. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Wilmington saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aly Allgood, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
Wilmington's defeat dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Peotone, their record is now 8-10.
Wilmington's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Peotone has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 13.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Wilmington, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will Peotone keep running through batters, or will the Wildcats buck the trend?
