Baseball Recap: South Sevier Takes Down Beaver in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, South Sevier rose to the challenge on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Beaver Beavers with a sharp 10-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won 19 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Bigs Northrup, who went 1-for-5 with four RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Kameron Hessey, who earned two RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: South Sevier kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

South Sevier is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Beaver, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 22-5.

Coming up, South Sevier will face off against Kanab at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rams 2.6, the Cowboys 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Beaver does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
