Mississinewa hasn't had much luck against Frankton recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Indians will square off against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Mississinewa 3, Frankton 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
While Mississinewa's victory against Blackford wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Indians' pitcher stepped up to hand the Bruins a 2-0 shutout on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Bruins: they've now won three in a row.
Lilah Greer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Frankton entered their tilt with Tipton on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Blue Devils 9-1. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
Grace Kessinger looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Claire Osborne, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lowyn Coffey, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Frankton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tipton struck out seven times.
Mississinewa pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Frankton, their record now sits at 13-7.
Both Mississinewa and Frankton just can't seem to miss. The Indians have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Frankton struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mississinewa might still be hurting after the 14-6 loss they got from Frankton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
