The Meridian Mustangs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat East Butler 61-25 on the road. The victory was just what Meridian needed coming off of a 61-29 defeat in their prior game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Meridian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ana Dimas, who scored 11 points along with seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaala Stewart, who scored ten points along with six steals and five rebounds.
East Butler's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reese Kozisek, who scored eight points.
The victory got Meridian back to even at 8-8. As for East Butler, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meridian will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against High Plains at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for East Butler, they will challenge Dorchester at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Dorchester's defense has only allowed 29 points per game this season, so East Butler's offense will have their work cut out for them.
