The Jenkins Warriors will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Cartersville Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. on November 24th. Jenkins will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Cartersville is ranked 23rd).
With a playoff game on the line, Jenkins rose to the challenge on Friday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 28-27 win over Dutchtown. That's two games straight that Jenkins has won by exactly a single point.
Jenkins' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Sylvester Harris, who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and Jayaun Albert, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.
Meanwhile, Cartersville put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 28-9 win over Eastside.
Cartersville can attribute much of their success to Khristian Lando, who rushed for 148 yards and three touchdowns.
Jenkins has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. As for Cartersville, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Jenkins has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 175.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cartersville struggles in that department as they've been even better at 189.8 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
