The Milan Wildcats were the 51-42 winner over the Scotland County Tigers when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Milan was just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 48-47 to Scotland County. Milan has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Milan's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ahmet Niasse, who scored 19 points. Niasse scored a full 40.4% of Milan's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jared Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 5 rebounds.
Milan now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Scotland County, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Milan will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Shelby at 7:30 p.m. on January 26, 2024. As for Scotland County, they will be playing at home against Putnam County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
