Basketball Recap: Heritage Piles Up the Points Against Bellmont

While Heritage didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They claimed a resounding 59-29 victory over the Bellmont Braves. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-12.

Heritage got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lantae Cassel out in front who posted 12 points along with seven boards and six assists. Those six assists gave Cassel a new career-high. Landon Lybarger was another key player, going 7 for 15 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds.

Cassel wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Heritage was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Heritage, bringing their record for this year to 4-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Bellmont, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

Heritage will take on Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Heritage's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches. Bellmont and Garrett will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Garrett is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season.
