The Culver Academies Eagles had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They took down Lowell 51-37. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Culver Academies also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Culver Academies got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kayla Herron out in front who scored 13 points along with six assists. Valencia Miller was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with three steals and three blocks.
Lowell's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maddie Mielczarek, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ava Fleming, who scored eight points.
Culver Academies pushed their record up to 11-7 with that win, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 20 points. As for Lowell, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season.
Culver Academies won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Bethany Christian at 12:00 p.m. on January 20th. Bethany Christian is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.3 points per game. Lowell won't have much time to rest: their next game is against South Bend St. Joseph at 2:30 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully South Bend St. Joseph focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday.
