San Joaquin Athletic Association recap November 5, 2013
Tracy's Nate Jones rumbled for the longest rushing play in San Joaquin Athletic Association this season in his game against Chavez last week. Jones scampered for 86 yards on the play and finished with 144 on the day as his team beat the Titans.
Bear Creek scaled the state rankings by moving to 605 from 657 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bruins were able to move up by besting Lodi 29-7.
Mike Frymyer made the biggest impact on defense this week as Tracy beat Chavez. The 6-foot-1 senior racked up 2 sacks.
Jones was the best running back in the league this week. In 7 carries, he ran for 144 yards as Matt Shrout's team fell to Matt Shrout's team. Teammate Damon Stroup added to the ground attack by rushing for 121 yards.
Leading San Joaquin Athletic Association in both passing and receiving yards, the Titans' Julius Davila and Gentry have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-10 quarterback Davila has thrown for 1,538 yards this season, while Gentry has 55 catches for 888 yards. Jones from the Bulldogs leads the league in rushing with 783 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Tracy takes on Bear Creek. The Bulldogs are currently in first, while Reggie Camp's team is in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Tracy takes on the Bruins. The Bulldogs have allowed 159 points this season, while Bear Creek has given up 165. Tracy allowed 14 points last week as it bested Chavez.
The Bulldogs took down the Titans 56-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Stroup threw for 66 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 121 yards in the win.
