Lakeland is 2-8 against Westview since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Lakers will face off against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Lakeland will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
Lakeland is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They never let Prairie Heights get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The Lakers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by eight runs or more this season.

Carter Crouse was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Carson Mickem and Garrett Pieri did most of the damage at the plate: Mickem went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Pieri went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Mickem a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brayden Holbrook, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Lakeland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westview). They put the hurt on Churubusco with a sharp 15-5 win on Saturday. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Westview let Jaxon Miller and Gavin Engle run wild. Miller got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Engle went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Miller has become a key player for Westview: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 10-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Engle, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Lakeland's record is now 25-4. As for Westview, their record now sits at 13-11.
Lakeland's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. The Lakers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Westview, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Lakeland continue to outrun the ball?
Lakeland might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Westview when the teams last played back in April. Can the Lakers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
