Harbor Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Meadville got the win against Varsity Opponent on Monday by a conclusive 13-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.
Like Harbor Creek, Meadville also got a great game from a two-way player: Lila Kightlinger. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Kightlinger has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kendall Mealy, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Addyson Kregel, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Harbor Creek pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Meadville, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
Meadville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Harbor Creek has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Meadville, though, as they've been averaging 8.7 hits. Given Harbor Creek's sizable advantage in that area, the Bulldogs will need to find a way to close that gap.
Harbor Creek took their win against Meadville in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 12-2 score. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
