Iroquois is 1-7 against Girard since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Even though Iroquois has not done well against Northwestern recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Iroquois walked away with a 56-45 win over Northwestern. The win made it back-to-back wins for Iroquois.
Orlando Brown continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring nine points along with six steals and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kellen Burroughs, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Girard had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 62-46 win over Seneca. Given Girard's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Seneca is ranked 509th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Iroquois pushed their record up to 9-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Girard, their victory bumped their record up to 13-1.
Iroquois suffered a grim 67-42 defeat to Girard in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Iroquois avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
