South Decatur and Borden squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but South Decatur had to settle for second. They were dealt a 64-26 loss at the hands of the Borden Braves. The Cougars' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Makalya Somers and Taylor Somers certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Makalya posted 14 points, while Taylor put up six points and five boards.
Borden got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emma Hart out in front who shot 86% from the field en route to 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. That's the most steals Hart has posted since back in November of 2024. Ava Wheeler was another key player, going 7-for-11 to rack up 14 points along with seven assists and five boards.
South Decatur's loss dropped their record down to 16-12. As for Borden, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-5.
South Decatur does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Borden, they have already played their next game, a 65-41 victory against Northeast Dubois on the 22nd.
