Covenant Academy's six-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They managed a 53-49 win over Crisp Academy. The victory was just what Covenant Academy needed coming off of a 87-66 defeat in their prior match.
Covenant Academy found their leader in underclassman Ryan Stevens, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Mcghee, who scored 16 points along with four steals.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tucker Ellenberg, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Ellenberg is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Reese Reed, who scored 14 points along with five steals.
Even though they lost, Crisp Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Covenant Academy only posted four assists.
Covenant Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Crisp Academy, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-10.
Covenant Academy will take on Windsor Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Windsor Academy and Covenant Academy are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Crisp Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Furlow Charter School at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Furlow Charter School is ranked 592nd, while Crisp Academy is ranked 575th).
