The Crosby Bulldogs fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Kolbe-Cathedral Cougars on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They lost to the Cougars at home by a decisive 89-74 margin. Crosby's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jeydan Benjamin, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Benjamin also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Daniel Melendez was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six assists and three steals.
Crosby's defeat dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Kolbe-Cathedral, their win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0.
Crosby will finish 2023 at home by hosting St. Paul Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Paul Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Crosby likes a good challenge. Kolbe-Cathedral will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Hillhouse at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
