IDEA North Mission lost against the Idea Academy Titans back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. IDEA North Mission took a serious blow against Idea Academy, falling 48-20. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for IDEA North Mission in their matchups with Idea Academy: they've now lost eight in a row.
Layla Perez continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Idea Academy, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 steals. Perez is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Juliza Lopez, who scored five points along with seven steals.
IDEA North Mission's defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.7 points per game. As for Idea Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
IDEA North Mission does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Idea Academy will head out on the road to face off against IDEA Pharr at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. IDEA Pharr comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
