Softball Recap: Rancho Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Rancho entered their tilt with Clark on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Chargers. The Rams have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Chargers, too.

Brooklynn Braun made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

Braun wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Velez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Layla Stout was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

The win got Rancho back to even at 4-4. As for Clark, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4-1.

Coming up, Rancho will be playing in front of their home fans against Durango at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trailblazers have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season. As for Clark, they will head out to challenge Cimarron-Memorial at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
