The Unatego Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Cooperstown Hawkeyes at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Schenevus Central scored an imposing 56 points two weeks ago, Unatego still came out on top. Unatego took down Schenevus Central 72-56. The win was some much needed relief for Unatego as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Cooperstown scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 67-41 margin over New York Mills. The victory was just what Cooperstown needed coming off of a 77-46 defeat in their prior match.
Charlie Lambert continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with five assists and four steals. The contest was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. Cooper Coleman was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds.
Unatego's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1. As for Cooperstown, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Unatego didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Cooperstown in their previous meeting back in February of 2021, but they still walked away with a 45-41 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Cooperstown's Chris Criqui, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be that much easier for Unatego to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
