This season hasn't been kind to the West Point Dragons, who are still winless after their ninth match. They were dealt a 100-20 defeat at the hands of Cesar Chavez on Friday. While losing is never fun, West Point can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while Cesar Chavez is ranked 25th).
Cesar Chavez's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Malia Woodberry led the charge by scoring 15 points along with 9 rebounds and 8 steals. Woodberry hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Lakeisha Robinson, who scored 20 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals.
The last time West Point won on the road was back on Thursday. Having now lost four straight away games, they've bumped their record down to 0-9. As for Cesar Chavez, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
West Point will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against St. John Paul II Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on December 13th. As for Cesar Chavez, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Shadow Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
