In other batting news, Smithfield let Nathan Lamarsche and Nick Gaspar run wild. Lamarsche scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Gaspar went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave Gaspar a new career-high.
Smithfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Warhill only posted a batting average of .333.
Gloucester had taken Hampton down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. Gloucester took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hampton.
Jesse Jackson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Hank Hardaway, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Gloucester's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Smithfield, their record is now 4-0.
Gloucester's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Smithfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .355.
