The Helix Highlanders will be taking part in a tournament against the St. Augustine Saints at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Helix 3.3, St. Augustine 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Friday, Helix needed a bit of extra time to put away Patrick Henry. They came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 5-2. That three run margin sets a new team best for the Highlanders this season.
Romeo Briones looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jake Johnson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Logan Nocon was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, St. Augustine was able to grind out a solid victory over Bonita Vista on Friday, taking the game 5-2. The Saints haven't had any issues with the Barons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Tyler Wick made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wick was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024.
Wick wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Raphael Dunne, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base was Dunne's first of the season. Another was Shane Miranda, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
St. Augustine's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Helix, their win bumped their record up to an identical 3-4.
