AAAA Region VI recap October 8, 2013
South Florence extended the longest winning streak in AAAA Region VI this week by beating Ridge View, 44-7. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
South Florence took down the Blazers 44-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Nick Jones threw for 144 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 18 yards in the win.
David Prince's team's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Rodney Brunson contributed 168 yards. David Vereen helped South Florence's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 39 yards.
Brunson was a passing and rushing force as the Bruins defeated Ridge View. Brunson's key target this week was Josh Johnson, who caught 8 passes for 79 yards.
Jones put up the best numbers in passing as South Florence topped Raymond Jennings' team. Jones' favorite target this week was Johnson, who caught 8 passes for 79 yards.
South Florence's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Bruins feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jones has thrown for 1,199 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, while Tabari Hines has 22 catches for 390 yards.
As it stands, the Bruins are in first, while Sumter is in third.
The Fighting Gamecocks made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,532 from 3,590. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 30-17 victory over Richland Northeast last week.
