The Redwood Rangers waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They secured a 70-64 W over Porterville. Given Redwood's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while Porterville is ranked 732nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Redwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cole Gilcrest, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Gilcrest is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Casas, who scored 16 points along with five assists and three steals.
Redwood is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. As for Porterville, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Redwood will take on Monache at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Redwood is coming into the match with six straight wins at home, so Monache is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. Porterville will take on Golden West at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Porterville is facing Golden West at the right time seeing as Golden West is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
