According to the South Florida Sun-Sentenel, the 5-foot-10, 190-pound sophomore running back and son of NFL great Fred Taylor, rushed for a FHSAA title-game record of 247 yards and five touchdowns, leading
Glades Day (Belle Glade, Fla.) to a 42-35 Class 1B championship win over Warner Christian on Friday.
Glades Day (10-4) fought back from a 21-0 deficit in the second quarter to win its fifth straight game and capture the crown.
Taylor tied the game at 28-28 early in the fourth quarter on a 9-yard TD run, then after the teams traded touchdowns, Taylor gave Glades Day its only lead, 42-35, with a 19-yard touchdown scamper with 2:20 remaining.
According to reports, Taylor was actually ejected from the game for excessive celebration, but teammate
Corey Garcia saved the day with an interception down the stretch.
Taylor is on MaxPreps Football Editor Stephen Spiewak's
Top 100 Watch List for the Class of 2013.
"Taylor is on pace to have one of the greatest high school careers of all-time," Spiewak said after hearing of Taylor's record-breaking performance. "
He's been amazingly productive
