The Gates County Red Barons lost against the Holmes Aces back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The match between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Gates County falling 47-32. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while Holmes is ranked 52nd).
Despite the loss, Gates County still got an impressive performance from Ny'Ashia Perry, who scored 5 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zariah Rogers , who scored 3 points along with 6 steals.
Gates County's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Holmes, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gates County has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Pasquotank County at 6:00 p.m. on December 5th. Hopefully Pasquotank County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday. As for Holmes, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Perquimans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
