The Shawnee Mission Christian Mustangs suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 39-13 defeat at the hands of Blue Ridge Christian. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Shawnee Mission Christian has scored all season.
Shawnee Mission Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Jeydan Umberger and Emily Kleczka. Umberger dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds, while Kleczka scored 13 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 84.6% of Shawnee Mission Christian's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Isabella Anderson, who scored two points along with three steals.
Shawnee Mission Christian has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Blue Ridge Christian, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-7.
Shawnee Mission Christian on the road again on Thursday and play against Heritage Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 25th. As for Blue Ridge Christian, they will be playing at home against Cornerstone Family at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Cornerstone Family focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Saturday.
