Basketball Game Preview: Blue Ridge Barons vs. Huntington Expression Prep Kings

Blue Ridge hasn't had much luck against Huntington Expression Prep recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Blue Ridge Barons will take on the Huntington Expression Prep Kings at 8:30 p.m. Blue Ridge is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Blue Ridge is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing St. Michael the Archangel: they outscored them in every quarter. Blue Ridge strolled past St. Michael the Archangel with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 82-65. Given the Barons' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Warriors are ranked 40th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Blue Ridge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Colby White out in front who went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points. That's the most points White has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Dreylan Creasy-Quirindoongo, who went 5 for 11 en route to 20 points.

Meanwhile, Huntington Expression Prep can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They came out on top against Lutheran East by a score of 72-65.

Blue Ridge's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.6 points per game. As for Huntington Expression Prep, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.

Things could have been worse for Blue Ridge, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 66-51 loss to Huntington Expression Prep in their previous matchup back in January of 2019. Can Blue Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
