Auburn hasn't had much luck against Spanish Fort recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. Auburn will challenge Spanish Fort at 9:00 a.m. Auburn's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Spanish Fort's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
While Auburn's win against Benjamin Russell wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Auburn narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Benjamin Russell 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted against the Wildcats since March 24, 2022.

Lily Brewer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
At the plate, Abigail Helms was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Daley Alsobrook, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Spanish Fort had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They never let the Hurricanes get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory.
Anne Thomas Luke made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Delaney Duncan, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Madison Griffith was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Auburn pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Spanish Fort, their record now sits at 22-5.
Auburn suffered a grim 14-5 defeat to Spanish Fort in their previous matchup back in February of 2022. Can Auburn avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
