Potts Camp is 2-8 against Hickory Flat since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Thursday. The Potts Camp Cardinals are taking a road trip to  face off against the Hickory Flat Rebels  at 5:30  p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Potts Camp has three straight  wins, Hickory Flat has 13 straight  defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Potts Camp barely beat Biggersville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Potts Camp put the hurt on Biggersville with a sharp  19-2 victory on Monday. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by 12  runs or more this season.
 Alyssa Clifton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She  struck out six batters over  three innings while giving up just two earned runs off   two  hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts any time she's  pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs and  stealing  Three bases. while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances.

 In other batting news,  Lexi Shaw and  Charlie Holmes did most of the damage at the plate:  Shaw  scored three  runs and  stole  Four bases. while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances, while  Holmes  scored a  run and  stole  Two bases. while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances. Those  four  stolen bases gave  Shaw a new career-high.  Kaylee Howell was another key player,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in two of her four plate appearances.
 Potts Camp  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .735. That's the best  OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Hickory Flat scored the most  runs they've had  this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They lost  25-7 to Ingomar.
  Brooklyn Wright and  Stormie Westmoreland did some serious damage despite the final result:  Wright  scored a  run and  stole a base while  getting on base  in two of her three plate appearances, while  Westmoreland  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 1-for-2.  Kyndale Holmes also deserves some recognition as  she  scored her first  run of the season.
 Hickory Flat's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Potts Camp, their record now sits at 3-1.
Hickory Flat's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them:  Potts Camp hasn't had any issues making contact this season,  having earned a batting average of .383. It's a different story for Hickory Flat, though, as  they've  only  averaged .171. Will they be able to contain Potts Camp's hitters?
 Potts Camp came out on top in a nail-biter against Hickory Flat in their previous meeting  back in April of 2024, sneaking past  4-3. Does  Potts Camp have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hickory Flat turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
